About Me:

I may not be what you see me as...
    I am who I am.
I have hurt and I have been hurt.
But I make my own choices
I see no reason to hide it.

The Waiting Game

Posted by athlynn17 at 12:15 AM on November 10, 2009 in Personal.

The Waiting Game

Everyday is a waiting game
Throughout the years it's been the same
For Sun to rise and yellow befalls
Upon this land, upon us all

Everyday is a waiting game
An ancient rule never ashamed
For Moon to come and darkness reign
The secrets we have to keep us sane

Everyday is a waiting game
A victory i have yet to claim
Because who is to know where's the line
Blurred between reality, just so fine

Everyday is a waiting game
Maybe I've learnt enough to reclaim
My mind, the sane mother of my heart
In the midst of it, I've played my part

Like a golden rule set in stone,
This game i have not outgrown
This sick game of waiting I am forced to play
Of rules and conditions I have no say

But for how long, how long more
Do i have to wait outside this door
All I wanted was just to soar
Run, fly, swim in the wildest shores
Oh all the things I've longed for
Just an inch more to the open door

And then I hear chains upon my ankles
Reality returns as Reverie crumbles
Barren plains blurs in to focus
Alas, Disappointment frolicks through this circus

Everyday is a waiting game
I guess for now it's more or less the same
Like a cage, with bars and chains like these
But this time, let Me hold the Keys.

Dream a little dream

Posted by yuhoo7 at 01:22 AM on November 7, 2009 in Creative Writing, Dreams.

Had a dream last night that I was in an unnamed urban sprawl at night. I was walking to some unknown destination, having just left a party or a gathering of sorts. It might've been a family function because I kept thinking of my grandmother. The city was totally sketch. It was poorly lit, and lots of shadows lurking everywhere. I felt terribly unsafe, and an uneasiness came over me when I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around quickly and glanced at this homeless man wearing a raggedy trenchcoat. He wore a wool hat much like Tyrone Biggums from the Chapelle Show. Except he wasn't funny. This was dead serious. I knew how it was going to go down, so I turned around and faced him. He had a gun in his hand. He demanded money and anything else I had of value.

I took my wallet out and gave it to him. He demanded I empty my other pockets. I did, and showed him a cell phone. He wanted my cell phone. I refused to give it to him. I told him to just to take my wallet and go. He relentless in his demand, but I wouldn't concede. Eventually I got pissed off and threw my phone way up in the air across the street. He ran to go grab it and I ran after him. He still had the gun, but for some reason, our roles switched, and now I was chasing after him and he was actually running away from me. He got the phone and just ran. I gave chase. The fool was fast, but I was angry, and that anger fueled my haste in pursuit of this thug. I eventually caught up to him outside of a building. I kept yelling at him, give me my fucking cell phone back! You mother fucker! I wasn't even thinking about the fact that just moments earlier this guy had a gun. He must have forgotten as well, because he looked to be scared as hell.

Then I woke up and felt really good.

The Lavaman

Posted by linders1025 at 12:09 AM on November 6, 2009 in Me.

March 28th is only a few months away... so, I decided in some random moment of overconfidence that on March 28th I'd run 6, swim 1, and bike 26 miles... yes. I'm doing the Lavaman Triathlon.

Not only do I fear that I will die & not make it past the 1 mile swim, I am pretty sure I will look like a fool doing it as well hoorah.

Regardless, the most important part of this is that I'll be doing it to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

My training is nowhere up to par and if I were to attempt this feat right now, I would collapse, no doubt. I'll definitely track my progress towards this tri here as well as my workouts. Also, I'm targeting trying to raise $4.8k for LLS--but I hope to totally exceed that, so I'll keep a running track of my fundraising efforts as well. Any donations are much appreciated

Donations can be given through my site:

Thanks!

Monkeys

Posted by yuhoo7 at 05:29 AM on November 4, 2009.

Life is a choice. Stuff happens, and then we get to choose.

Now do I want a spider monkey from South America, or a Yunnan Golden Monkey from China? Looks like the Spider Monkey can slap harder. A sense of security is an important factor when picking the right monkey. I'm going with the Spider.

In loving memory, Fluffy

Posted by athlynn17 at 09:45 AM on October 29, 2009 in Personal.

Always delighted to see us when we went over to visit, her beautiful wagging golden tail was a sight never missed. She was the first ever dog our immediate family has had and I could still remember her love for chewing our toes with her milk teeth when she just arrived. Just like her name, she was just such an adorable ball of fluff everyone loved. As she grew, she became more and more elegant in her own ways. Always regarded as the 'big sister' of the dogs, she was so gentle and would never fail to give way for her younger dog brother, Russell and dog cousins,Bubbly and Jolie. They always loved hanging around her when they went over to stay. Her love for food was another trait we would never forget; always around with her pink tongue hanging from her mouth around the dining table, hoping that bits and pieces of food will drop down to the floor. My mum would always buy bread specially for them to eat and they loved her so much for that. So far, i could see my mum taking it pretty badly, even to the point of wondering if it was the bread that killed her, which i doubt.

I wonder how's everyone over there at my grandma's house taking it, after all,she was the darling dog of the family. Especially my cousin, Nicole, who loved her so much. She was also very attached to everyone else, especially my grandma, because she was the one who would prepare their dinner. Fluffy even once went through a day or two without food because my grandma was away from home on holiday. That was how sweet she could be. Sad as it was, somehow i was glad that it was short, that she went not long after the problems started to come. At least she didn't have to suffer so much. Hopefully she'd be somewhere peaceful and taken cared of. I'm sure she would.

Your golden fur curling around my fingers,

Sleeping through the afternoon,

Ever sweet through the years,

But taken away too soon.

xxx Fluffy, you'll be missed so much.
